Three Sowers, One Standard: Yield Australia Completes Sowing Fleet Expansion
By Yield Australia Team ·
We're proud to announce the completion of a significant expansion to our sowing infrastructure. Yield Australia has added two Urbinati precision sowing machines to join our existing Williames Hi-Tech seeder, giving us a three-machine fleet dedicated to commercial seedling production.
This expansion represents one of the largest single investments in our sowing capability since the nursery was established, and reflects our commitment to meeting the growing demand from commercial vegetable producers across Victoria and beyond.
A Purposefully Mixed Fleet
The choice to expand with Urbinati machines alongside our established Williames Hi-Tech wasn't accidental. Each brand brings distinct strengths, and having both on the floor means we can match the right machine to the right crop program — rather than forcing every order through a single configuration.
We have operated the Williames Hi-Tech as the backbone of our sowing program for a number of years. Its reliability and throughput capacity have been proven across many seasons of high-volume brassica and leafy production. Adding two Urbinati seeders extends that capability into higher-precision, finer-seeded crop categories where their engineering excels.
Three Machines, One Standard
Three machines means three opportunities to optimise. Each unit in our fleet is configured and calibrated for specific crop types and tray formats, ensuring the right sowing parameters are applied to every order — whether you're planting brassicas into 128-cell trays or specialty herbs into 240s.
For our growers, this translates directly into what matters most: every tray that arrives on your property is sown to the same exacting standard, regardless of which machine handled your order.
What This Means for Your Orders
With three machines running, our sowing throughput has increased substantially. This expanded capacity allows us to:
- Accommodate larger or more complex orders without pushing lead times
- Dedicate machines to specific crop programs rather than constantly reconfiguring between runs
- Maintain output during maintenance windows — if one machine is offline for scheduled servicing, your program continues uninterrupted
- Respond to late-season demand spikes with greater agility than before
We'll be sharing more about how each machine is configured — and the crops each is optimised for — in the coming weeks. In the meantime, if you have questions about how this expansion affects your existing program, contact your Yield Australia representative or call us on 1300 094 353.
