Yield Australia Partners with Local Schools for Farm Education Program

By Yield Australia Community Team ·

At Yield Australia, we believe the future of Australian agriculture depends on inspiring the next generation. That's why we've launched a new education partnership program with schools across Melbourne's western suburbs.

Bringing the Nursery to the Classroom

Our program offers students a hands-on introduction to commercial horticulture, covering:

  • Seed to seedling — How commercial vegetable seedlings are propagated, grown, and prepared for farms
  • Plant science basics — Germination, photosynthesis, and what plants need to thrive
  • Career pathways — Exploring the diverse careers available in modern agriculture and horticulture
  • Sustainability — How nurseries and farms work to reduce environmental impact

Nursery Tours for Students

We're also opening our Werribee South nursery for guided student tours. Students get to see a working commercial nursery in action — from our climate-controlled germination rooms to our hardening areas and dispatch operations.

Tours are available for primary and secondary school groups by appointment. Each tour is tailored to the age group and curriculum requirements of the visiting school.

Supporting the Community

Werribee South has been the heart of Victorian horticulture for generations, and we're committed to ensuring that legacy continues. By connecting young people with the realities of modern food production, we hope to inspire future growers, agronomists, researchers, and agricultural leaders.

If your school is interested in our education program, please contact us to discuss options. We'd love to welcome your students to Yield Australia.
